Fetch! for DataMarket

The Fetch! for DataMarket app instantly delivers data from the Windows Azure DataMarket to your mobile device. Like the standalone Fetch! app, it allows you to access the data you want by selecting from a list of commands. Unlike the standalone app, Fetch! for DataMarket does not require an on-premises component and works only with the DataMarket. For more information, see Using the Fetch! CountryEconomy - Get the economic picture for a selected country, with comparisons to the U.S. and world economies. Data, from the World Bank, includes:


CountryEconomicDebt - Three years of World Bank data for a selected country, including central government debt as a percentage of GDP and total government reserves.


CountryEconomicHealth - Three years of World Bank data for a selected country, including:

CountryEconomicNNI - Get three years of Net National Income (NNI) and NNI growth data for a selected country, from the World Bank.

Private sector

Data on trade and private sector economic activity, including: 

  • Size of the private sector
  • Domestic credit extended to the private sector
  • Total tax rate
  • Ease of doing business, time required to start a business

Data sources: World Bank Group's Private Participation in Infrastructure Project Database, Enterprise Surveys, and Doing Business Indicators, the International Monetary Fund's Balance of Payments database and International Financial Statistics, the UN Commission on Trade and Development, the World Trade Organization, and other sources.

Science and Technology

Data on a county's technology base, including:

  • Royalty and license fee payments
  • R&D as a percent of GDP
  • Patent applications
  • High-tech exports as a percent of manufactures exports

Data sources: UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the U.S. National Science Board, the UN Statistics Division, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Includes data on unemployment, literacy, and labor market participation by women and children, derived from household surveys conducted by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank, and national statistical offices. 

Urban Development

Data includes:

  • Population density
  • Urbanites as a percentage of total population
  • Urban population growth
  • Number of passenger cars
